Guernseys & Nicknames

1965 – Bentleigh were known as the Terriers.
1967 At some time, Bentleigh wore green and gold vertical stripes.
1969-75 – Somewhere in here, Bentleigh changed nickname to the Bulldogs.
1980-81(ish) – Approximately somewhere in here, Bentleigh changed nickname to the Dragons.
1995-99 – Bentleigh changed nickname to the Demons somewhere within this period.
2015 – At the 2015 AGM, the club voted unanimously to become the Bentleigh Football Netball Club

Grounds

1965 – Bentleigh played its games at the King George VI Memorial Park, East Bentleigh.
1968ish – Bentleigh moved to the Mackie Road Reserve, East Bentleigh, and remained there until around 1989.
1988 – Bentleigh moved to the Bentleigh Recreation Reserve.

1965 (ESPCFA) :
Bentleigh Methodist FC was formed, fielding a team in D Grade of the ESPCFA. Bentleigh Methodist won 9 games, lost 9, and finished fifth.
1966 – ESPCFA D Grade : Bentleigh Methodist did not make the finals.
1967 – ESPCFA D Grade : Bentleigh Methodist did not make the finals.
1968 (ESPCFA D Grade) : Bentleigh finished on top of the ladder after the home and away season. Grand Final – Bentleigh defeated Mont Albert by 98 points.
1969 : ESPCFA C Grade : Bentleigh Methodist missed the finals only once during the periods 1969 & 72-75.
1970 – ESCFA C Grade Grand Final : Blackburn North Baptists defeated Bentleigh by 6 points.
1971 – ESPCFA B Grade : Bentleigh lost Grand Final by 12 points.
1972 : Bentleigh participated in the ESPCFA C Grade. Bentleigh missed the finals only once during the periods 1969 & 72-75.
1973-75 – Bentleigh missed the finals only once during the periods 1969 & 72-75.
1977 – ESPCFA A Grade : Bentleigh did not win a game.
1978 – ESPCFA B Grade : Bentleigh did not make the finals.
1979 – ESPCFA B Grade : Bentleigh won very few games.
1980 – ESPCFA C Grade : Bentleigh experienced ‘limited success’.
1981 – ESPCFA C Grade Grand Final Glen Waverley defeated Bentleigh.
1982 (ESPCFA B Grade) : Bentleigh Uniting were minor premiers. Second Semi-Final – Hampton United 19.16.130 defeated Bentleigh Uniting 13.13.91. Preliminary Final – Glen Waverley defeated Bentleigh Uniting by 7 points.
1983-87 – ESPCFA B Grade : Bentleigh experienced limited success on the field over the next 5 years, making the finals only once.
1988 – ESPCFA B Grade : Bentleigh finished in the lower half of the ladder.
1989 (ESPCFA B Grade) : Bentleigh completed the home and away season on top of the ladder. Preliminary Final – Bentleigh were defeated.
1990 (ESPCFA B Grade) : Bentleigh completed the home and away season on top of the ladder. Grand Final – Bentleigh defeated Richmond. Reserves Premiers
1991 – ESPCFA A Grade : Bentleigh finished in 5th position on the ladder.
1992 – ESPCFA A Grade : Bentleigh finished in 5th position on the ladder.
1993 – Southern FL Premier Division : Bentleigh finished 7th.
1994 – Southern FL Premier Division : Bentleigh made the finals.
1995 – Southern FL Division 1 : Bentleigh participated.
1996-97 – Southern FL Premier Division : Bentleigh participated.
1998 (Southern FL Premier Division) : Bentleigh completed the home and away season on top of the ladder. Preliminary Final – Noble Park defeated Bentleigh.
1999 – Bentleigh participated in the Southern FL Premier Division for the last time.
2000 (VAFA Division D4) : Bentleigh commenced in the VAFA. Grand Final – South Melbourne District 20.7.127 defeated Bentleigh 14.16.100.
2001 (VAFA) : Bentleigh completed the Home and Away season in 2nd position on the ladder. Second Semi-Final – Fitzroy Reds defeated Bentleigh. Preliminary Final – Bentleigh 16.13.109 defeated Saint Johns OC 13.15.92. Grand Final – Fitzroy Reds 12.13.85 defeated Bentleigh 5.15.45.

2009 (VAFA D3) Premiers – Seniors defeated St. Mary’s Salesian – Reserves defeated Powerhouse
2010 (VAFA D2)
2011 Returned to SFL, Division 2. Seniors make the Grand Final, only to lose to Highett. Reserves win the premiership after an undefeated season. Colts lose Grand Final to St Kilda City.
2012 (SFL Division 2) Reserves Premiers, Under 18 Premiers
2013 (SFL Division 2) PREMIERS – Seniors defeated Mordialloc
2014 (SFL Division 1) Under 19’s defeated Dingley
2015 (SFL Division 1) At the end of 2015, the club officially voted to become the Bentleigh Football Netball Club
2016 (SFL Division 1) Seniors Grand Finalist, Reserves Premiers.
